Walked down from our airbnb up the hillside around 1:30pm on a weekday. Beautiful spot across from the park/beach. Was bummed when I heard kitchen was closed, but my eyes lit up like a kid in a candy store when the bar tender said they had bar food! Ordered the shrimp twists which were great and a pint of apple cider which was also perfect on a nice sunny day sitting outside! Beautiful interior and friendly service! Will be sure to pop in at a better time of day next time. Menu looks great!

We went for the second time this week for lunch. Bethany the bar and wait person is awesome so much personalty just a joy to be around. I don't know how she can do so much really does a job of 2 people I hope her Boss knows. The food is lovely for $20 I had the best prawns ever. Will be going back again soon. Very underrated! It's actually a great restaurant! The food is good quality, very nicely presented and very tasty. It's obvious that they have a professional chef! We had fish and chips, a beef burger, seafood pasta and gyros. My husband is a burger connoisseur. He said he had one of the best burgers in NZ! Fish and chips were also super tasty! The chips were cooked to perfection 👌🏼This review is coming from someone who lived in UK where fish and chips are almost like a religion 😉 The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I must add, we did wait for the food a bit longer than in other places. It was still not too long though. To us it's a good sign. A sign that the food is made from scratch, cooked as we wait! Not a microwaved!

Would highly recommend "The Sands Restaurant". Value for money, huge meals, favors are divine, presentation beautiful. Chef came out to see if our meals were ok. The service is outstanding, very friendly staff especially Beth she's wonderful at her job. Great place to celebrate an occasion or just have dinner out. Love The Sands we will be back.
